THE COMMON MURRE: A RESILIENT SEABIRD OF MONTEREY'S WATERS.

Common Murres inhabit rocky cliffs and islands along coastal regions. This species are accomplished divers, using their wings to propel themselves underwater in pursuit of fish and other small marine prey. During the breeding season, large colonies form on steep cliffs, where murres lay their eggs on narrow ledges or rocky outcrops.
