Marine Mammal Sightings Map (20K)

Note: Gray whales are not plotted on the chart. Numerous California Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and Southern Sea Otters are seen on all trips, and are not plotted on the chart.

The Gray Whale northbound migration has been at its peak and will slowly decline in numbers. The movement of mothers and calves will occur with sightings close to shore and along kelp beds. They can be seen from shore sites such as Pt. Lobos. This is the season to be looking for predation events by Killer Whales.

Humpback Whales are making their way into Monterey Bay and will become the dominant baleen whale by the end of April.
